Did you know that in addition to borrowing the Sphero Bolts from REMC 6, you can also borrow “chariots” which allow students to design cargo carriers, snap on building bricks, and more! Also available are the Sphero City/Golf Mat and Space/Soccer Mat, for use with block coding, basic math principles, and collaborative problem solving with Sphero Bolts or Sphero Minis. Each Code Mat comes with 10 double sided coding cards that provide guided, hands-on coding lessons.

The Genesee Intermediate School District in Flint is offering FREE professional learning on Chemical Safety and Storage on May 22nd. Information shared will primarily focus on middle and high school science classroom needs, as well as specific district-level plans. The Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance is hosting a regional scavenger hunt for students to explore STEM passport locations and events, while competing to earn prizes in a fun new way! Families from throughout Bay-Arenac, Clare-Gladwin, Gratiot-Isabella, Midland, and Saginaw can participate in the Goosechase Experience through December 31, 2025. Missions and prizes will be added throughout the year.
STEM@SVSU is excited to announce the Hour of Code Event application is now open! We are offering a coding experience for up to (3-4) fourth grade classes on Friday, May 23, 2025 (approximately 9:00 am – 2:00 pm) at SVSU. This experience is FREE and includes lunch; however, the school/district is responsible for providing transportation to and from Saginaw Valley State University. Deadline to APPLY is Friday, May 2, 2025.
The Dow Championship is pleased to bring the 2025 LPGA Leadership Academy to Apple Mountain Resort in Freeland July 28-29, 2025.
This unique program features classroom style lessons on team building, developing confidence and leadership skills instructed by the LPGA Foundation. The lessons are then reinforced out on the golf course with fun and creative activities coached by LPGA-certified golf professionals from around the country. The second day features an executive lunch panel with 4 female Dow executives sharing their journey through high school, college and to their present positions in a casual format that allows the participants to openly ask questions and gain insight. Girls ages 13-18 with an interest in leadership skills development and golf should complete the application no later than May 5th.
Inspire the next generation of forensic investigators with tools and strategies aligned to Common Core and Michigan NGSS, learn how to integrate lessons and promote science careers, and receive a hands-on lab experience science kit at the CSI Davenport: Where Forensic Science Meets Classroom Innovation teacher camp. The camp will take place at the BASID on June 9 - 11th. Space is limited so register today!
Join Mi-STEM Regions 10 & 11 for a three-day workshop diving into the principles of Project-Based Learning. Collaborate with others to deepen your understanding of PBL and the impact it can have on student learning and engagement. Workshop will take place at the Bavarian Inn (Frankenmuth) on June 30 - July 2, 2025. Lodging and stipends are available for participants. For more information and to apply, click HERE.
The CSforMichigan Collaborative is thrilled to welcome teachers to Bay City again this summer for a variety of engaging Computer Science workshops July 28 - August 1. Workshops are tailored to different grade levels and content areas. CS Workshops for High School and Middle School include Code.org AP CSA, AP CS Principles, or CS Discoveries. Integrate math and computer science in middle and high school with Bootstrap Algebra I, Bootstrap Algebra II, or Bootstrap Data Science workshops. The Kickstarting CS in Elementary Grades workshop equips K-5 educators with fundamental CS curriculum and lays the foundation to integrate computer science into core curriculum.
Scholarships are still available! If selected, all workshop participants will receive workshop registration, materials, lodging, breakfast/lunch, and swag items, as well as a stipend for any additional virtual dates. For more information or to apply, check out the TeacherCon Conference Page!
Michigan Tech’s Summer Youth Programs office is partnering with Hemlock Semiconductor to offer scholarships for students from Midland, Gratiot, Bay, and Saginaw counties to attend an engineering summer camp! The scholarship will cover all costs (including transportation) required to attend the Engineering Scholars Program (ESP) June 22-27, 2025. ESP is a weeklong investigation of engineering careers featuring special topics, group projects, and lab tours. Preference will be given to current juniors; however, any student in grades 9-11 is encouraged to apply. More information is available under the “Engineering Scholars Program” HERE.
